| The Disillusionment of a Once Proud Fan |
[Aug. 2nd, 2007|07:37 pm] |
Dear Premier League;
I am writing you today to express my complete disbelief and disappointment with the way you have handled your responsibilities to the historic sport of football. You have created an atmosphere of ill will which promotes cheating for those who can afford it.
As an American fan of many sports I have seen my share of dishonesty and disruption, but what you have achieved this season is an insult to every fan who has ever watched a match.
Anyone who is in business knows that contracts are binding and can not just be torn up without the approval of both parties. However you willingly took the word of West Ham United {who had already admitted to cheating} without receiving a written confirmation from Mr. Kia Joorabchian stating the contract was in fact dissolved.
Since the end of the season it has come to light that this was probably not the case at all. Unfortunately, you chose not to admit your mistake and take proper action against West Ham. Instead you decided that if you said it was so then it would magically be that way. You have insisted that West Ham must be the ones to negotiate with Manchester United and they must receive the bulk of the 30 million pound compensation.
When Mr. Joorabchian balked that he still had rights you tried to dump it off on FIFA, stating quite accurately that you could no longer be impartial. Now instead of going to trial where the pertinent facts could actually come to light, the parties have decided to settle where West Ham would receive 1-3 million in compensation. Now unless my math is wrong that is 3-10%. Since when does this constitute the bulk of the compensation? Bulk usually means the larger share which at the very least must be 50.1% anything less and it is an indicator that the real owner of Carlos Tevez is Mr. Joorabchian.
If this settlement of a mere 10% is allowed to happen unchallenged by you it will be a slap in the face to the fans who pay to watch their team and are the consumers which all the advertising money you receive is aimed at. It is with that knowledge I will hope that you will finally stand up for the fans and do your duty to them and the sport by either refusing the agreement or ordering a new disciplinary hearing.
I thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Sincerely,
Beth McMillen Palm Bay, Florida |

[May. 15th, 2007|06:08 pm] |
There is now an online pettiton set up by the sheffield star, (http://www.sheffieldtoday.co.uk) that is hoping to change the penalty set on West Ham for the whole Carlos Tevez saga.
You must email them (starsport@sheffieldnewspapers.co.uk) before saturday the 19th of may, because thats when it gets sent / shown to the FA. Or alternatively you can go to their specific site for information on the topic.
The website is http://www.thestar.co.uk/blades (click on the justice for football link). |

| | frustrated | ] | End of First round. France advanced to the second round on Friday by beating TOGO (With a little help from Switzerland beating Korea) They meet Spain on Tuesday in the Second Round. (SHould be a tough one for them.
Second round so far.
Germany took out Sweden 2-0 yesterday to Advance to the third round (YAY!) they take on Argentina who managed to pull out a win even though Mexico played better.
England took out Ecuador today with an awesome score by Beckham on a penalty kick. (proving again why he is considered the tops at this) Although I did think they were going to have to carry him off the field before the end. England still needs to step it up a bit and I was a bit surprised Peter Crouch didnt play.
Now for the WTF category. England will be playing Portugal who advanced into the next round by 'beating' the Netherlands. This is the perfect example of the phrase. "I went to a football match and a hockey game broke out" This was an incredibly sloppy and pathetic match.
If anymore cards came out I dont think portugal would have enough players to field a team against England. (Okay slight exaggeration but you get my point.) Although I was rooting for the Netherlands was glad to see Christiano Ranoldo (Portugal & Manchester United) go out before the mess started so he wasn't involved. (Although I was sad that he had been hurt)
Still trying to understand why the Netherlands never put in Ruud Van Nistlerooy. Your down by one you are up one man and you dont put in your best scorer? WTF?
So it was a bitter win for Portugal and the refs better not let them pull that shit with England.
Upcoming second round. Tomorrow Australia plays Italy. Go Aussies! Switzerland vs Ukraine. No pick.
Tuesday France vs. Spain Go France. Ghana vs Brazil. Go Ghana! |

| NOOOO!!!!! |
[Jun. 23rd, 2006|01:17 am] |
Well the bad news first I guess. The USA lost today to Ghana! NOOOOOOOOO! *SOBS* Well that is it for them they have been eliminated. *sniff*
On to better news.
England tied Sweden and finished first in their group They face Ecuador in the next round. The have lost Micheal Owen to a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee. Even worse for him he probably wont be starting for Newcastle till next year.
Germany beat Ecuador to sweep their group. The will play Sweden in the next round.
Australia tied Croatia to finish second in their group and advance they play Italy in the next round.
France plays Togo tomorrow they need to win thier match to advance(plus a few other things in the group have to happen).
I am also hoping Ghana beats Brazil. Actually I am hoping anyone (except Italy) beats Brazil! |

| | indescribable | ] | WOW! What a day! Thanks to an incredible win by Ghana over the Czech Republic and an exciting though ref tainted tie between USA and Italy the USA lives to fight another day!
Both Matches were very exciting! I really think Pope should have been pulled out before the second half. He didnt seem to be doing anything right. (he wont have to worry about it for the next match)
Was really sunk by the Red card to Mastroeni, Will have to wait and see if it was just the new FIFA rules or if the ref was going over board the whole game.
Was surprised on the Italian side by the poor play of Totti. I am sure the coach felt the same.
Was very happy with Donovan, McBride, Bocanegra and Keller.
Can't wait till the match on Thursday against Ghana. Hope they play with as much heart as they did today. Of course I will be working. *pout*
In my other team news. England & Germany have made it to the next round. So will be following them.
Would Love to see Australia surprise Brazil tomorrow. |
